The Role of An Artist in The New Age
New Podcast With Poet of "Parrhesia" on Wielding the Power of the Pen
Is the pen still mightier than the sword? Perhaps so, when strengthened by the spoken word. Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kayla Henry whose poem “Parrhesia” was widely heard last year in alternative news circles, pointing to the corrupt top-down control around the pandemic. Simply, “parrhesia” (stemming from the Greek parrhēsia) means “boldness” or “freedom of speech.” Etymologically, “parrhesiazesthai” is defined as “to say everything” from ‘pan’ (everything) and ‘rhema’ (that which is said). Through that spirit, I offer this excerpt of a poem I wrote on an artist’s role in the New Age when more are craving authenticity and releasing cowardice for a new kind of creative freedom. Like Kayla, I believe that there is an artist inside of each of us. I invite you to listen to our candid podcast episode below.
Welcome to the New Age
Excerpts of this poem by Sienna Mae Heath
Artists know the difference between illusion and truth.
We are all artists in The New Age
Where the word “all” is met with love, not separation.
Every poem is born real, and the ink never runs dry.
Tangled in the wires of a pen,
I’m not sure what will happen.
That’s why you’re here, aren’t you? For a pious poet’s prediction?
Open your eyes wider to the future that lives in the ink of your own pen.
Yours. The future is yours.
…
The New Age is where we grow together, where we speak in solitude,
Where we are finding the shackles in our language
That have kept us bound to our egos;
Verb tenses are progressive
So we need not call upon our government to force progress.
Truth is deciphering trend. Nuance has a home here.
In the New Age, truth is objective, truth is explored.
It is not declared against all odds; truth is all odds.
Truth is made of all of us, yours, mine, theirs.
Truth babbles, truth grows.
Here on this bridge to The New Age
We do not demonize, we recognize that polarization is natural.
Polarization is needed. But the north and south poles are cold
They are not meant for the warm-hearted, not for long.
And that’s why I welcome you to in-between.
Where love needs not reign, where love needs not roar. Love is.
Some are crossing the bridge to this new place,
Unafraid of the quaking magma below
Leaving the frigid poles and the purposed hurricanes behind
Solemn for the souls that are not ready
For the righteous rain and baking breezes
Of the New Earth.
That’s why I’m welcoming you, once more,
To the tropical, sonorous in-between
Where it’s warm.
As we all light the way home to The Age of Aquarius
To a place of ego death and soul bloom
Here, in this paradigm shift,
Duopolies crash and duality joins the spirit — trinity shines.
Spirit and science marry, art and technology play;
Fantasy finds truth, questions are called upon;
Surrender and sovereignty are seen as strength.
Amid this quantum leap of independence an infinity of changes and choices are made.
We shed while honor “the time before”
Crowning the true kings and queens within all
Dethroning the ghosts caught in purgatory
Giving a chance for even redeemed reptiles to become real boys
Releasing and transmuting pain into energy,
Transforming lust to joy, ego to glory.
Here, we are waiting, we are wanting;
Right and wrong blur beautifully, halves merge whole.
To The Quiet Questioner:
Remember you are a warrior,
Remember that good always wins,
And yet you doubt, as if walking on quakefire
That you will falter if you utter something strange, something wrong.
It’s okay. You are safe. You are loved.
Do not fear this light.
Be the light and others will follow.
Please come home to where it’s warm, true, and real
To the New Age of Manifest Destiny.

Kayla Henry is wielding the power of the pen through pure poetry. Her crusade for truth elevates messages of medical freedom, the desire for clear language in media, and an eagerness to understand governance in the Western World. Kayla is a brilliant, budding Canadian artist. In our interview, we talk about the role of art in today’s divided society. We also read parts of her new book, “Rhymes to Rhetoric,” and map out her hero’s journey—reflecting on her call to adventure to step out as an individual and to catch flight through creative freedom.
